More thoughts about the Speed Graphic. I know a man who worked at a small town newspaper in the 1950’s. To cover an event they would take a Speed Graphic and 1 film holder. So that was 2 chances to get the photo. I also know somebody who did work as a combat photographer in Vietnam. They used Nikon F’s and Speed Graphics.

Last year I took a Speed Graphic and used it like the press camera that it is (hand held). An interesting way to do it and certainly makes you think about the subject. Someone described 4x5 as contemplative photography. The 12 negatives produced that day were a lot of work. 6 holders with two pieces of film in each. Anyway, I like the effect.

Below is another WMSTR  photo from a few years ago. Took this with a Yashicamat EM TLR 6x6. I took a couple rolls with this camera yesterday. Now to mix up some developer and fire up the darkroom.

A few more with one of my favorite lenses, the Carl Zeiss 50mm Tessar. Using manual lenses on the Sony Nex is a lot of fun.

Verdict on the optically challenged Sigma. Possible to use but very limited. I don’t think that I have found the niche use yet.
